farewell to the old year

So much to do but so little done.
I always feel like it at the end of the year.

Life goes on.

I decided to throw away old post cards from my friends.
There's not much space to keep them any more.

I met many people in the past.
It's difficult to find a true friend.

I want to find one before I die.
There are so much to do before my life ends.

seven times?

If my brother keeps on sinning against me,how many times do I have to forgive him?
Seven times?

No,not seven times but seventy times seven.

I hate a sin, not a sinner.

He hurts me and I hurt him.
That makes us even.

still so busy

There are still lots of patients coming to our pharmacy.
We could get some stocks of Tamiful.
We can afford about 60 flu patients with them.

The hospital near our pharmacy is open on Jan.2.
Many patients will come.
We have to prepare medicines for them.

Tomorrow is the last day of the work this year.
I will look back on this year and prepare for the next year.

Tuesday, December 27, 2005

where is the flu medicine?

We have to prepare for the flu outbreak.
But there's not many stocks of Tamiflu.

The government announced that they have to prepare for the new type of influenza.
They have the stock of Tamiflu.

How about ordinary influenza?
It will outbreak soon.
We are looking for the medicine.

time is brain

I read about this on a medical news letter.

human nervous tissue is rapidly lost as stroke progresses.
if you don't treat the stroke you lose 1.9 million neurons each minute.
that means you get about 4 years older in one minute.

so if you get the stroke you have to go to the hospital immediately.

TV magic on Christmas Day

Once you start watching TV on holidays, you can't stop.

I had been watching TV from 1 pm to 9 pm.
That's too long. But I don't think I wasted time.
Sometimes it's fun to do nothing productive and rest your brain.

At Arima kinen horse race Deep Impact couldn't win.
I'm a little bit sorry.

when Christmas comes to town

Most Japanese are not Christians but Christmas is a big event for them.

At the time of bubble economy luxurious hotels are fully booked on a Christmas Eve.
They exchange expensive presents.
Those days are gone but it's still fun for them to celebrate Christmas.

They should learn Christmas spirits.
Think of poor people in the world and what to do for them.

remains of the snow

In the morning the snow was still on the road.
The road was slippery so you had to walk very carefully.

I heard some episodes of accidents caused by the snow.
At night the snow almost melted away.

I wonder what people in the snow county deal with snow.

unexpected snow

It snowed heavily today.
It piled a little.

When I was a kid snowing was fun but as a grown-up it is troublesome.
I was afraid the transportation system would stop.
But it stopped snowing and cleared up in the afternoon.

tax return

I got the tax receipt of this year.
They will pay me back some money because I pay the housing loan.

I will spend this money for reducing the debt.
The next goal is to make money by investment.

I buy mutual fund little by little every month.
It's OK to depend on professional investor to make money but in the near future I want to do it on my own.

terror of yakuza

There was a big trouble with yakuza at my workplace today.
Because of the misdirection of some medicine the man got sick.

Our boss went to the house of the man immediately and apologized.
His condition was not so bad .
But he said we should consider what to do for him because he hadn't been able to work for three days.

I don't know what he will demand from now on.

yakuza
In the Western press they are frequently called the "Japanese mafia".

work and motherhood

One of my co-workers called in the mornig and said she couldn't come to work today because her child was sick.

When a child is small women has to be very busy in Japan.
You can't count on your husband.

It's a traditional lifestyle of Japan.
I don't like it.

renew yourself regularly

I went to the beauty shop to have my hair cut short.
It had been more than six months since I had my hair cut last.

The hairdressers in the shop look so young but I know they are over forty years old.
They have been working at the shop since I was a high school student.

How do they keep young looking?
I want to know the secret.

tea or coffee?

The battery has arrived.
The cell phone shop called me yesterday.
I had been waiting long.

I went to the shop to pick it up.
The clerk offered me a drink ticket.
I usually prefer to take tea but took coffee this time.

The aroma of coffee made me relax.
It is good to have a cup of coffee once in a while.

making money by stock investment

A young investor got more than 500,000,000 yen by selling the stocks of J-COM.
I'm envious. If I had money I could do the same.

First of all, I have to work hard and make enough money to invest.
And I need to study economy.

Once I challenged "weekly trade" but it was easy to lose money.

After I wrote this, there were much bigger surprise.
Other young investor got about 2,000,000,000 yen by selling J-COM.
Unbelievable!

hibernation

It was my day off today.
I can not get up early in winter because of the cold.
How weak-minded I am!

I want to make good use of time.
How can I get over this problem?

almost dead

the battery of my cell phone is almost dead.
in the afternoon the battery goes off.
do I have to charge it twice a day?

I bought this cell phone in March.
These days cell phones are costly so I want to keep using it for more than two years.

I ordered a new battery at the shop two weeks ago but there's still no call from the shop.
what are they doing?

against decreasing birth rate

An elderly lady told me I should have many children.
She has two children but she says she feels lonely.
She is 93 years old. At her age, people have five or more children.

It is difficult to have many children because of the severe situation.
Raising children in Japan costs a lot of money and there are only small number of nurseries.

I should change the situation.

stay up late

I usually go to sleep around 11:30 p.m.
But when the World Cup starts, I have to stay up late because the matches starts late at night in Japan time.

I will make a plan how I can stay healthy with less sleep.

music is the life's foundation

I went to a classical music concert by an amateur orchestra.
I was asleep most of the time but the sound of harp was so nice.

I remember when I was playing the trombone in my high school brass band.
I didn't like the musical instrument because it was heavy and difficult to make a big sound.
I wanted play the clarinet or other small things but there were lots of students who wanted play them so I had no choice.

I feel like listen to some classical music now.

I passed the aromatherapy test class-1.
The certificate arrived today.

I will get the lisence of aromatherapy advisor after attending the seminar in February.
My next goal is aromatherapy instructor.
This is going to be more difficult.
I want to pass the test next year.

karaoke at home

I haven't been to karaoke for a long time.

Recently I found an on-demand karaoke system.
If you have broad band at home, you can sing karaoke at home.

The system requires special microphone which costs about 15,000 yen,
And you have to pay 525 yen per month.

I want to try it.

Kafka on the Shore

The novel is by Murakami Haruki.
I hear the novel is popular in US.

In Japan it is called "Umibe-no- Kafka".
I haven't read it but it seems like a weird story.

I once read his novel "Norwegian Wood".
His style of writing is like a translation from English to Japanese.
I guess that's why his novel is translated into English and is read by people overseas.

ads on my blog

The ad changed today.
It is asking for donations for hurricane affected area.

Before the ad was put, there has been "curses and revenge spells" ad.
Why did this ad appeared on my blog?
I don't need Voodoo spells either.

Curses,like chickens come home,to roost.

suddenly it got too cold

It has been a little warm for winter lately.
But it was so cold today.
The wind was killing me.

There will be lots of patients with cold tomorrow.

new year greeting card

I finished printing the new year greeting cards.

The number of my friends is less than that of my co-workers.
I want to have more friends.

It's time-consuming to design the card.
But it's my art project only once in a year.
It's nice to be an artist sometimes.

Emily the cat traveled alone across the Atlantic Ocean

I like this story.
The cat traveled form US to France.
It's exciting and fantastic.

Stowaway cat arrives home from France
CNN.com Friday, December 2, 2005

Emily vanished from her Appleton home in late September. She apparently wandered into a nearby paper company's distribution center and crawled into a container of paper bales.

The container went by truck to Chicago and by ship to Belgium before the cat was found October 24 at Raflatac, a laminating company in Nancy, France. Workers there used her tags to phone her veterinarian, who called the McElhineys.

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire

The movie was worth waiting for.

Harry, Ron and Hermione are no more children.
Dark and difficult times lie ahead.

I wanted to see Quidditch World Cup more.
The special effects were so nice.

Friendship,love and death.
The world of wizards is almost like that of muggles.

the confession of a murderer

The Peruvian admitted he killed the girl.
It's an unforgivable crime.
But what made him do it?

They say he can't speak Japanese well and has been lonely.
He has a daughter in Peru who is about the same age of the girl he killed.
What will become of his family in Peru?
