Deep Impact fell short in the race much of Japan so desperately wanted it to win, finishing third in the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe at Longchamp Racetrack in Paris on Sunday behind Rail Link and Pride. (Mainichi interactive)

It must have been tough for him to race in a foreign country.
He's still the best horse in Japan.
